Remote Access

Bring cutting-edge microscopy and lab instruments into your classroom without the expense! Through Remote Access to the Nanotechnology Lab at North Seattle Community College, students, organizations, and industry can image and study materials on expensive equipment generally not available to most classrooms.

  • Scanning Electron Microscope
  • Atomic Force Microscope
  • Profilometer
  • Confocal Microscope

Process: While Skyping with SHINE staff and NSCC nanotechnology students, take control of the equipment to study nano and micro scale material. Learn about microscopy and high tech equipment currently used in labs.

Curricular materials are available for school groups.

Requirements

  • Computer with administrator access to install plug-ins and  free software
  • High speed Internet connection and web capabilities
  • Speakers
  • Microphone
  • Skype connection
  • Projector connected to the same computer (for multiple viewers)
